Was she (born a Hungarian countess, and a Roman Catholic) actually a direct descendant of the famous Catholic monarchs of Spain (i.e. Ferdinand and Isabella)? If so, what was her exact line of descent?
It has been said that (almost) all the European royals, of both reigning and non-reigning dynasties, are descended from them -- the exception being the Montenegrins. However, I'm not sure if these Spanish Catholic monarchs can claim to be the nearest common ancestors to all or most ...
Anyhow, this connection would mean that Prince Leka II of the Albanians could claim at least distant relationships to (almost) all the European royals.
Queen Geraldine and her Lekanian descendants are one of the few families that are not descendants of Jan Willem Friso of Orange and Henriette Amalia of Anhalt-Dessau.
However, she does descend for Henriette Amalias brother, Furst Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau.
- Furst Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau (1676-1747)
- Furst Leopold Maxmilian of Anhalt-Dessau (1700-1751)
- Henriette Catherine Agnes, Freiin von Loen (1744-1799)
- Agnes, Grafin von Seherr-Toss (1783-1832)
- Graf Leopold von Seherr-Toss (1810-1893)
- Marguerite, Countess Apponyi de Nagy-Appony (1848-1931)
- Count Guyla Apponyi de Nagy-Appony (1873-1924)
- Geraldine, Queen of Albania (1915-2002)
- Leka I, King of Albania (1939-2011)
- Leka, Crown Prince of Albania (1982-)
