Probably some pied-a-terre in Madrid.
I was perusing the latest Sothebys sale catalogue which includes furniture and art belonging to the late Infanta Alicia, following on from the sale of her jewels last year.
Infanta Alicia seemed to have sat on a goldmine of art and jewels her entire life, so I am guessing she did not have to live too modestly, by any stretch she must have been one of the greatest heiresses of her generation.
I had a couple of general questions if anyone has any answers.
i) Infanta Alicia married the head of a long exiled royal house, but must have been considered a prime candidate for a royal prince of a reigning dynasty, were there any other candidates for her hand?
i) I recall the press hysteria when the Thurn & Taxis sale happened but subsequently it emerged that the family still has plenty of jewels and art work left behind. Is this a complete clear out or does the family still have a sizeable collection of art/jewels kept as heirlooms?
It would seem to me at least that the Infanta's descendants are selling off the items primarily associated with the Bourbon Parma side of the family (of which Infanta Alicia was the last of her branch of the family) as opposed to the Two Sicilies side from where they take their title, so perhaps they have kept items associated with the Two Sicilies family and scarified the Bourbon Parma items? It may be that there are no such Two Sicilies items of course.
ii) where did Infanta Alicia live in Spain? A palace? Do the Bourbon TS family have an ancestral home in Spain? Does her daughter-in-law Anne or her son Pedro live there now or has her property also been sold??
