Re: Don Juan vs Franco - a new book
I thought that the review mentioning Torcuato Fernández-Miranda made very little sense but since I didn't have access to the book, I thought I'd ask. So do you think it's worth buying?
I got it yesterday as a Christmas present. It has received good reviews. It cannot be about Torcuato, because the book is about the CoB conspiring against Franco in the 1940’.
Monarchists conspired against the regime from 1943 to 1948. It ended when the allies considered that Franco was a good ally against communism and they stopped supporting a monarchist restauration. The final chapter was the meeting between the CoB and Franco, when they agreed to send Prince Juan Carlos to be educated in Spain
Has any of our Spanish posters already bought and read the (relatively) new book "Don Juan contra Franco. Los papeles perdidos del régimen"? Is it a serious historical study? It certainly seems so but at the same time, one source says that the author is a great-nephew of the "principal character of this biography" ("protagonista de esta biografía") which would suggest that it is more about Torcuato Fernández-Miranda than about Don Juan himself. Any feedback? Many thanks in advance! :-)
