I know that in the Netherlands, voluntary renunciation of succession rights is not permitted by law. So Princess Irene simply married without the consent of the Dutch Parliaments; hence, the forfeiture of her and her descendants' rights. I believe that Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark did a similar thing, when marrying a foreign king (who was, moreover, an enthroned sovereign -- not just pretender). Since the Danish constitution does not permit the accession of a dynast who is the consort of a foreign sovereign, she simply chose not to seek consent for her marriage to King Constantine II of the Hellenes. Correct?
