: To get back to our main subject of discussion.
: While those outside have been disappointed
: by the King in this situation I want to
: raise a few points.
Speak for yourself. Not all non-Spaniards are opposed to what the King has done. This non-Spaniard lives in a nation where a bloody civil war was fought to ensure the nation not be divided and that no state can withdraw from the Union without the approval of the federal government. You may not like the official Spanish reaction, but the Constitution supports the maintenance of a unified Spain. How the unification is maintained may not always be pleasant, or strike secessionists as just, but the law is on the side of Rajoy.
: Is the King fleunt in Catalan and Basque,
: did he spend time in the region's learning
: the languages. I appreciate this might not
: have seemed vital in 1975 but surely that
: has changed since then. Is the Princess
: being raised to be fluent in Catalan and
: Basque? What is the etiquette for royal
: speeches etc in Catalonia and the Basque
: country? A mixture of the national and
: regional languages? I rarely think other
: European royal families have much to learn
: from the British but I think the sensitivity
: to speech in French in Quebec is worth
: Also beyond his time spent abroad for
: education has the King spent any significant
: part of his life anywhere but Madrid?
