Anita Stewart, a U.S. heiress, married D.Miguel Duke of Viseu, elder son and heir of D.Miguel (II) of Braganza.
At request of D.Miguel (II), Emperor Franz Josef of Austria uplifted Anita to the rank of a Princess and she became Princess Anita of Braganza, Duchess of Viseu.
After her husband's death, she choose to regain the american citizenship.
To become an american citizen, she had to renounce to her titles of Princess and Duchess.
