As per the late Queen Elizabeth II's wish, the royal house retains the surname 'Windsor'. 'Mountbatten-Windsor' is reserved for those not in direct line for the throne.

Until recently, one saw the British royal family name as Windsor, the English replacement for Coburg. Now, we see Mountbatten-Windsor. Is the surname of Prince Philip allied with the surname of Prince Albert or will Mountbatten replace the surname Windson (Coburg}, please?
