She was sort of our Jane Grey, the uncrowned and unrecognized queen that does not count in any charts.
With a slight difference: Unlike Jane Grey, Beatriz was the only surviving daughter of King D.Fernando I.
Her mother the Queen-Regent had her proclaimed as Queen at the age of 10, but she had a tiny disadvantage: She was married to the king of Castille Juan I who wanted to take over Portugal, something the portuguese were not that happy with, despite the wedding treaty had in its clauses that Beatriz and Juan would not be full sovereigns but, despite being styled as kings of Portugal, they would be the legal representants of their firstborn son, who, at the age of 3 months, would be brought to Portugal to be raised under the portuguese laws and traditions by his grand-mother the Dowager-Queen or by whom she would appoint.
Juan's greed, his imprisonment of the Dowager-Queen, led to a war (another) between Portugal and Castille that we won, and our independence was preserved.
The marriage between Beatriz and Juan lasted just 7 years and, according to the scarce sources, either did not produce any children, or might have produced a son who died shortly after his birth.
There you have as a younger Queen of Castille: Beatriz of Portugal, aged 10
