What I find eerie is that even if fully cognatic primogeniture had applied from King Christian IX of Denmark and King Willem III of the Netherlands, both Queens Margrethe II and Beatrix would still have come to the thrones.

Soon, Europe will have several Queens regnant. Among them Victoria of Sweden to be followed by daughter Estelle. Norway will see the reign of Ingrid Alexandra after the reign of her father Haakon. And then Belgium has as its crown princess Elizabeth and the Dutch have Catherina Amelia. Spain will have as its Queen regnant Lenore. The Danes already have their Queen regnant in the person of Margarethe and Romania has Margaret as Guardian of the Crown. A big change soon
