Pr. Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha married Queen D.Maria II of Portugal.
He became King D. Fernando II after the birth of their firstborn son.
Their descendants reigned until 1910.
Of course the S-C-G reigned in their german duchy until 1918.
As for consortes, Maria of S.C.G. became Queen of Roumania, and her sister Victoria Melita was Grand-Duchess of Hesse-Darmstadt and Grand-Duchess of Russia, when she married secondly the disputed head of the Romanovs.
Their third sister, Alexandra, married the head of the Hohenlohe-Langenburg principality.
The current king of Sweden is the son of a S.C.G. princess, who failed to be queen-consorte because her husband preceeded his father.
