At the beginning of WW I, Austrian was associated with Hungary in what we knew to be the Dual Monarchy or Austria-Hungary, the sovereign was king of one and emperor of the other. When the war ended and many monarchies collapsed, Hungary retained its monarchial form of government into the 1940s. Austria itself became of republic. Did other entities of this empire remain monarchies or did all become republics?
Boheima and Slovakia became the Republic of Czechoslovakia.
The south slav areas (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia) became a part of The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, later Yugoslavia.
Transilvania became a part of the Kingdom of Romania.
Galicia became a part of the Republic of Poland.
