Consent was a moot point in the UK, since the 1701 Act of Settlement applied. Beatrice forfeited her succession rights by marring a Catholic. In fact, the marriage wasn't originally dynastic in Spain, either, since King Alfonso XIII initially withheld consent. He later relented, however; and the union was eventually recognized.
