you forget the link where Princess Sophie of Greece (sister of the Duke of Edinburgh and thus a niece of Mountbatten) was the mother of Prince Christoph of Hessen who married Yvonne Szapary.
So Yvonne Szapary was a great-niece-in-law of Mountbatten.
Thank you Karen, I know the genealogically closeness between the Mountbattens and the Hesse.
You referred to the link between the (extinct) Hesse-Darmstadts and the Mounbattens.
I was referring to the present Hesses, the former Hesse-Kassels, a different branch of the Hesse family.
And I know they are related via Vicky's youngest daughter Margareth, who married the Landgraf of H-Kassel.
But what I meant was if the H-Kassels and the Mountbattens maintained such a close relation, in spite of the family ties , that would justify Marie-Christinne of Kent saying that she was close to the Mountbattens via her german cousins, which we assumed could have been the Prince of Hesse who was married to M-C's cousin.
Well since Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine, later Victoria Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven was the mother of Lord Louis Mountbatten and Princess Alice of Greece. I would say the Mountbattens were close to the Hesses.
