By contrast, their cousins (the children of their paternal aunts) don't even have that title. Would it be possible for the children of Elena and Cristina to be created into Infantes of Spain by grace?
Come to think of it, younger sons and members of junior branches of royal families not being automatically entitled to princely titles is not unique to Spain. If I understand correctly, in the UK only the eldest son of the reigning monarch is a prince (presumably by right); younger sons are styled by the title only by courtesy.
So it seems that the British system of courtesy titles is equivalent to the Spanish system of Infantes by grace.
