When the Chancellor Bismarck planned to create a unified nation out of all the Germanic entities, did Hanover hesitate in joining? Did Bismarck "punish" Hanover and its king for doing so? After Bismarck retired from office, did the then Kaiser restore Hanover and the king's finances?
The Kingdom of Hannover was conquered by Prussia in 1866. Hannover had supported Austria in the war between Prussia and Austria. The unification of Germany took place in 1871, so Hannover, now being a part of Prussia, did not have a say.
