I just finished "A Imperatriz Romanov" by C.W.Gortner. Minnie is portrayed as the force behind the throne during Nicky's reign, opposite to her languishing d-i-l. And I enjoyed particularly the rivalry between Minny and Miechen. Can someone tell how accurate is the book and how was their relation ? M & M ?

The Romanov Empress: Tsarina Maria Feodorovna Paperback by C.W. Gortner is a Novel. It's historical fiction based on facts. I've read it and enjoyed it, but took a lot of the details with a pinch of salt. As for the Tsarina Maria Fedorovna's rivalry with Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna. It is a well known fact that there was an open rivalry between the two of them.
