In Italy and Greece voting ended the monarchy though it's uncertain that the published outcome of abolishing the monarchy in both nations was actually truthful.
In France Louis-Napoleon was elected president than made himself emperor and held an election to legitimise his coup d'etat.
Luxembourg had a vote in 1918 when they chose to continue the monarchy and have Grand Duchess Charlotte as the successor of her sister Marie-Adelaide who was forced to abdicate because she was seen as pro-German.
Have there been other similar elections in Europe for reviving former monarchy systems? Or for establishing new monarchy systems?
