In 1873, ADke Karl-Ludwig married, as third wife, Infanta D.Maria Teresa of Braganša, daughter of former-exiled-late king D.Miguel.
Karl-Ludwig had fathered, by his 2nd wife, ADke Otto, who in turn, in 1886, married Pss Maria Josepha of Saxony.
Maria Josepha was the daughter of Infanta D.Maria Anna of Braganša, grand-daughter of Queen D.Maria II of Portugal and great-grand-daughter of King D.Pedro IV (aka Emperor D.Pedro I of Brazil) who defeated D.Miguel in the cruel civil war that finished with the exile of the second in 1834.
D.Maria Teresa was a first cousin of Maria Josepha's grand-mother Queen Maria II.
See the generation gap :
How was the relation between the two princesses, coming from the two ennemy branches of the house of Braganša ? Are there any particular stories, anedoctes shared by both ladies ?
Maria Josepha lost her mother at a very early age, so she would not have been influenced by any stories from the "dark side of the family"...
Infanta D.Maria Teresa was very devoted to her step-children, and it is known how she rallied with Franz Ferdinand, when he decided to marry Sophie Chotek.
In fact, from the entire IF, M-Teresa and her two daughters were the only members present.
Neither of F-F full siblings attended the cerimony.
But I know nothing about D.Maria Teresa and her other step-children, namely Otto and his wife, a descendant from the Braganša-Saxe-Coburg line.
Can someone throw some light ?
Thanks in advance.
