Mary I (Tudor) did not marry the king of Spain. Felipe did not become king of Spain until nearly 18 months after the marriage.
At the time of the marriage in July 1554, he was a king but his father, Carlos I (Charkes V), was still king of Aragon and Castile. Mary wed Felipe on 25 July 1554 on which day he was ceded the kingdom of Naples by his father. On the same day, he was also named King of Chile (a new title to give Felipe another crown) by his father: that title merged with the title king of Spain when he became Spanish monarch on 16 January 1556. In theory, Chile remained a “kingdom” within the Spanish empire until its independence early in the nineteenth century.
Thus from July 1554 until January 1556, Mary was Queen of England, Ireland, Naples and Chile.
