"Improbable" is obviously not the same thing as "impossible." But the fact is that something that's VERY improbable is nearly impossible. It's hard to state the exact statistic: I can't say that it's 99% improbable that Ferdinand was the father of Mircea. Still, blue eyes are what one can expect for the vast majority of children born to two blue-eyed parents, in accordance with Mendelian laws. That's why biographers state that the king very likely was not the biological father -- not "Ferdinand was not the father, period."
