That made me think of the husband of another Marie d'Orléans: Prince Valdemar of Denmark was a widower for 30 years, from the death of his wife in 1909 until his own death in 1939.
Other loongtime widowers are King Olav V. of Norway, widower for almost 37 years, his father King Haakon VII., widower for 18 years and King Gustaf V. of Sweden, widower for 20 years.
Yes, the first two have already been mentioned in previous posts of this thread; I hadn't thought of the third one, however.
But given the longevity of the Bernadotte kings, perhaps it's no surprise.
