And her daughter Marie Chrstine, who is the widow of an uncle of the Fürst of Liechtenstein is still alive at the age of 95.
Adss Helena of Habsburg-Tuscany died in 1924, a few days after giving birth to her only daughter Pss Maria Christinna of Wurttemberg.
Her husband, Duke Philipp, eventually would marry her sister ADss Rosa.
When was the last time in European royal history this happened? I was surprised to learn that as of circa 1900, this was still known to occur occasionally. Notable examples coming to mind are the Grand Duchess Paul of Russia (born Princess Alexandra of Greece), Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma (first wife of Tsar Ferdinand of the Bulgarians), and Infanta Maria de las Mercedes of Spain (daughter of King Alfonso XII).
Can anybody also name the specific case of the last queen dying in childbirth?
