I know that the famous "Mad" kings of Bavaria -- Ludwig II (otherwise known as "The Swan") and his equally deranged younger brother and nominal successor, King Otto -- were both eventually declared insane, unfit to rule, and incarcerated into castles (Schloss Fürstenbad and Schloss Berg, respectively). In this, they met the same fate as that of their famous ancestor, Juana la Loca of Spain.
My question is: have there been other notable descendants of this "mad" queen who met the same fate?
Don Carlos, the eldest son of Felipe II of Spain, was incarcerated for the last few months of his life in the Alácazar of Madrid on the orders of his father. He was mentally unstable and violent. Rumours circulated for centuries afterwards that he was poisoned on his father's orders but there is no evidence for that.
