Both Edward VII, the VIII and George VI and these names in their full names, though they were known as Bertie or David.
Ernest August (of Hannover) had just these 2 names.Is there a precedent that a king would choose a name he did not have at baptysm ?
You raise a good point and I expect Frederick Lewis or Ernest Augustus would have reigned under either of their given names but not with a joint name as there was no tradition for that.
