You raise an interesting issue. I don't think there is any standard classification for these former monarchies with official or semi-official roles, although it is an interesting development. The Balkan countries seem to have created a situation short of restoration that still gives them some of the representational benefits of constitutional monarchy without actually having to adopt it as a form of government.
How are the former monarchies of Serbia, Romania, Albania and Montenegro classified? The royals of Serbia and Romania seem to be quite active in carrying out various functions some on behalf of the government. I understand that the Princes of both Albania and Montenegro are on stand-by for performing functions on behalf of their countries governments.
