Probably because that was not even a possibility. To the Soviets, the Romanovs and the Church were trappings of the corrupt and vilified old order. The Church in Soviet Russia had to badly compromise itself in order to survive, and Lenin, Stalin and their Soviet successors had no interest in a relationship with surviving Romanovs. Even as late as 1977, the next generation of Soviets remained spooked enough by the ghosts of the ancien regime that they felt the need to demolish a house in remote Siberia because it was the Tsar's last residence and his place of execution.
