When King Constantine and his family had to flee from Greece after the military coup they flew to Rome, where the family stayed in the Greek Embassy, hotels and a few more temporary places before settling down in a villa at via Porta Latina 13, which is close to the well-known via Appia.
Here they also created a small school in the large garden, which a few Greek children also were able to attend. Queen Anne-Maries mother & sisters frequently came to stay with them.
