It was strange that there were no representatives of other Balkan royal houses present - no Serbs, Greeks, or Bulgarians. The presence of the Duke of Parma was noted, but not Queen Anne's brother Michel (who may not be well enough to travel at short notice) or his children and nephews and nieces. The Duke of Calabria, whose paternal grandmother was a first cousin of the Queen and whose mother's grandfather was brother of Queen Anne's mother, was unable to attend but he did send messages of condolence to the King and Crown Princess.
