That's incorrect. There was indeed a previous Russian title with no effect whatsoever to the Mecklenburg succession... Only Count Georg of Carlow and his children were concerned, not his sisters. 5 months after this russian title, the former reigning Grand-Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and fomer regent of M-Strelitz, recognised Georg Gf v. Carlow, Hg zu Mecklenberg (according to his adoption and to the russian title) as a Duke of Mecklenburg...
