I have never read that the "Saxe-Coburg and Gotha" actually took the Kohary titles; I thought the titles became extinct with death of the last and first Prince of Kohary. Of course the S-C & Gs took the wealth, but even the often used S-C-G-Kohary designation is wrong; they were and remained Princes of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
However, I believe that the Bulgarian line is now the senior representing line of the "Kohary-Branch" since the death Prince Johannes Heinrich Friedrich Werner Konrad Rainer Maria in April 2010, not counting descendents of unequal marriages.
But still it remains a bit of a mystery to me.
: Surprise 1/page 30: here the King says that
: he had ceded the title Countess Murany to
: his daughter Princess Katalina. The title is
: part of the Kohary inheritance and was used
: by King Ferdinand when traveling
: "incognito". As the princess has a
: great admiration for King Ferdinand she was
: given that title.
: The King did not say when he ceded her the
: title, but might it be when he gave his
: sister and her children from her second
: marriage the title Princess of Kohary?
: I do not think Hungarian titles are within
: the gift of the bearer, i.e. they cannot be
: ceded. As such, any "gift" of such
: a title amounts to an empty gesture.
