: difficult. While Alexander is the mostly
: recognized, the Rüdiger is quite opposing
: the claims and his website contains pretty
: strong language against Alexander. The
: nobitility association of the German
: Nobility stated a few months back, that the
: Royal Line of Saxony has come to an end and
: that none is entitled to the title of
: Markgraf of Meissen.
The problem I have always had with the use of the title "Margrave of Meissen" by the royal line is that it is actually a title common to all members of the princely house of Saxony (i.e., the House of Wettin). Every member is a duke or duchess in/of Saxony, margrave or margravine of Meissen, landgrave or landgravine in Thuringia, and princely count or princely countess of Henneberg.
:It is said that the
: senior representative of the Wettins is now
: Michael of Sachsen Weimar Eisennach, but he
: does not claim the title of Markgraf and
: head of the RF of Saxony. All difficult and
: so very typical,of former ruling houses.
: Quite a few have howevr ill afford disputes
: over the headship and of course usually
: about money.
The senior representation of the House of Wettin always belonged to the Wettins of Weimar and Eisenach. The royal line has never been the senior line.
