The Benelux Royals Message Board: A new Grand Duke in Luxembourg

This morning Grand Duke Henri signed his abdication at the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg (city). Afterwards the new Grand Duke Guillaume V was sworn in at the neighbouring Parliament.

Attending were the new Grand Duchess Stephanie, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and the little hereditary Grand Duke Charles (now the youngest heir in Europe).

Also in attendance the Kings, Queens and Crownprincesses of the two other Benelux nations. As well as representatives of the European institutions.

All Guillaume's siblings were present. As were all of Henri's siblings and their spouses.

For the swearing in ceremony Guillaume and Stephanie used the chairs that were also used during his grandfather's ceremony and not the throne used by Grand Duke Adolphe and his father Henri.
