Which ones have the present kind and queen of the Belgians attended, since ascending the throne? I know that King Albert II was still on the throne when, early in 2013, Pope Benedict XVI announced his intention to abdicate. I believe that Philippe and Mathilde attended his funeral (there are photos of the couple with Queen Sofia of Spain).
And they attended the recent funeral of Pope Francis. Did they attend the inauguration mass of the new pope, Leo XIV? I watched the video on YouTube, and thought I saw them -- but the image was unclear. I know that the sovereign couples of Spain and Monaco were present.
