The first state visit of the Autumn has been announced.
On the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa, King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima will pay a state visit to the Republic of South Africa 18-20 October 2023. This will be their first state visit to an African country.
Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus (accompanied by the then Prince of Orange) paid a state visit to South Africa in October 1996, and received President Mandela for a return visit in March 1999.
