I have been watching a little bit of the worsening Dutch farmers’ protests against the current government’s policies regarding their livelihoods and climate change.
Does King W-A have a role to play in all of this? Have the farmers petitioned him at all? Can he arbitrate? Or does he have to wait until Rutte’s leadership is challenged, no confidence vote, etc?
The King and Queen went out and about to visit farmers, often unexpected and had long talks with them,or rather listened to their problems.
He can not arbitrate as such, but surely talked this over with the responsible government ministers.Yes.
