The public party consited of 6 people:
1 HM the King
2 HM the Queen
3 the Chairwoman of the 4 and 5 may committee
4 the PM
5 the Mayor of Amsterdam
6 the Equarry to HM the King
there was a small music band and the reefs were laid by a brother and sister from the scouts but in general the square normally containing some 20.000 people was completely empty.
It had already been announced before Corona hit Europe that HM would give a speech and it probably was one of his better ones. The king is growing in his role during these hard times. the whole ceremony was a bit unsettling. Usually it demonstrates unity in what otherwise is a very diverse nation but with no one around it felt strange but moving.

I was surprised to read that this memorial day observance in Dam Square took place given the current situation. Was there some sort of social distancing protocol?
