Until the Act of Succesion was changed Prince Laurent was the first adult in the Royal House who could act as such, or even worse (....) become King.
A huge sigh of relief might have been heard all over Belgium when Elisabeth was born and she became her father's heiress at once.
BTW, as reported earlier on, also on this Board, the apanage to which she is entitled as from now on will not be paid/used for the time being.
Her parents decided it would be much wiser to let her continue her studies and live a (relatively) normal life as a young adult instead of having the burden of an official life full of duties at once too.
Adding a link (in French though) to the Luxembourg paper wort.lu about Elisabeth turning 18.
