The King seems to think he can be economically active as a private individual while he is the sovereign as well.
He needs to realise that being monarch comes with perks but also with restrictions, especially when it comes to financial and moral matters. He did everything in his capacity to keep his rights to succession and willingly became King of the Netherlands so he needs to embrace what that entails.
First of all, the mansion is part of the (quite large!) private property which Queen Beatrix handed over to her eldest son and a lot of security measures have been taken before WA & his family went to live there.
The Dutch special royal protection officers are based there too, so does this mean they are now no longer in place there (switching to HtB all of them??) and hand all responsibility over to any new lodger?
Or will the mansion be protected by special forces of the Kuwait RF? Thus making it part of their territory, since we all know that highranking foreign diplomats are always staying in places that become part of their home country's territory with all sorts of limitations that involves ?!!?
On the rest of the estate several members of the Dutch Royal family are living in homes that are not as tightly secured/protected as the Eikenhorst, so what will be the consequences of this action?
And with all the recent upheaval over WA's nephew, Bernhard jr, and all his dubious real estate activities this news ccertainly does not bode well for the overall image of the Dutch RF!
The fact that 'De Telegraaf' newspaper was the first to mention this says enough as it the #1 royalistic newspaper !
