Looks like a fascinating trip. It seems that interest in archaeology may run in the family through the Swedish side -- both King Gustav VI Adolf and his granddaughter Queen Margarethe were fascinated by archaeology. Both went on digs, in at least one case together.
King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their 4 children Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore visited Egypt during the Christmas holidays to see some historical and cultural attractions open to visitors.
During their stay, the Belgian royal family visited the Philae Temple, the High Dam, the Temple of Kom Ombo, the Temple of Edfu and the ancient Egyptian Kings’ tombs at the Valley of the Kings. They also visited the Valley of the Queens’ tombs that included Nefertari’s tomb, the famous Habu’s temples at western Luxor.
