Have to add this:
The Royals spoke with people who are victims of earthquakes that are the result of the winning of gas from the province. This was a serious subject but important and much appreciated by the people from the province and town (both named Groningen).
The queen recycled her red baret she wore years ago. All three daughters wore pieces from Maxima's wardrobe. The most recognisable piece was the denim jacket worn by Alexia.
Princess Alexia had another big surprise the Dutch band Kensington performed and she knew every word of the song and sang it with them.
One of the band members gave his plectrum to her younger sister Ariane.
I was very impressed by how well the princesses performed today. They stepped out on their own going to the people and shaking hands, taking selfies and talking to people as well as showing how close the family is.
Prince Maurits, princess Marilene and prince Bernhard all three had a special reunion. They studied in Groningen and all three worked in a bar called Palace Soestdijk. The old bar-crew of their days and the owner were there and it was a warm welcome for them.
Another successful national holiday in the Netherlands.
The king has become more popular than 5 years ago when he took over from his mother and the monarchy is very popular. Well done to HM and his family. Not a bad 51st birthday present.
One of the country's biggest radio broadcasters Radio 538 had their annual concert for Kingsday in Breda.
One of the performers was Rita Ora she asked the crowd of 40 000 to take a minute of silence for the recently deceased DJ Avicii who she made her recent single with. The entire crowd joined in. An impressive tribute to someone who died way to early.
