Had she continued the use of other residences and for instance lived at Noordeinde Palace during the winter for a month or three the builders would have had a longer time to do some work.

:
: Really?
: This article by Dutch newspaper AD (Algemeen
: Dagblad) was published an hour or so ago on
: this Saturdaymorning and I guess most of us
: who have followed the news about the
: restoration of the Royal Palaces (from the
: days when Beatrix was to become Queen!) will
: be appalled by the way this historical place
: & private living space of Beatrix &
: her family has been neglected over the
: years.
: We have had this discussion before, I know,
: but during all those long absences
: (summerholidays e.g.) any home-owner with a
: sense of responsibity of a century-old
: Manor/Palace would certainly have allowed
: workers to do some highly needed
: restorations on (parts of) the property.
: A property, mind you, the Queen didn't even
: have to pay for as it is the State that
: stands for its upkeep!
: Something is truly rotten.... etc
