Not a debate, I just observed that the two systems are entirely different and that the US State Department needs a big budget even without having to pay for the receptions because the staff is almost always much bigger than the regular staff of a Dutch embassy.
Every day I bike past the building site of the new US embassy in The Hague, very close to Huis ten Bosch by the way, and it is huge! The building costs must be massive and the maintenance will be equally steep in the future.
