: ...I am approaching the Exchange, Billi, Fang and Gia are with me. I am a bit disheveled, I had just finished a hunt with some of the newer scouts. We were successful, a large boar was being carried back to the Lair, but it had taken a deft stab of my spear to finally land him. I was thinking of sending a haunch to Braum's Tavern, in return for some bottles of paga. I didn't drink, but some of my sisters enjoyed firewater at times.

: ...Lia, a scout, had signaled that supplies had been left at the Exchange, and wanted me to see them. We Panthers were certainly capable of larceny, in addition to murder, kidnapping, kaiila stealing, and generally gathering up anything that wasn't nailed down when we raided. But, we were scrupiously honest when it came to the Exchange. Cheating, stealing, or other such actions would lead to Merchants and Sailors not wanting to trade with us, and we needed what they had to offer in order to survive. We emerge from the Jungle, and approach Lia, and two other scouts who are standing over the crates. I brush my pigtails back, and walk up to them, and stop, looking down at the boxes and wrapped items. I look over at Lia, and speak, a little sharply. "You were on patrol here, tell me what you saw." She flinches a bit, but meets my gaze, evenly. "Huntress, a ship approached, and anchored just outside the surf line. A little later, a group of mercenaries came down the trail the leads to the Citadel, and one of them went on a rowboat to the ship. After about an ahn, he returned with two rowboats full of goods, and they were unloaded. The boats returned to the ship, and it left, heading north. The Mercenaries divided the goods between themselves, and headed back to the Citadel. Amara followed them, and confirmed that they did return. These items, were left."

: ...I nod at Lia, thinking that we may need to train her to become a guard, she had reported well, and had dispatched the scouts she had been working with well. "Well done, Lia, you handled this well." She relaxes a bit, and nudges one of the boxes with her left toe. "Why were these left here, Medi? Did you leave some captives, earlier?" I grin, thinking that we would have had to have captured somebody really important to get such a haul. "Nay, Lia, I was here with a Warrior last afternoon, and took him to the Citadel, nobody was tied to the frames."

: ...I open a trunk, and look at the contents. I recognize the type of daggers that are sitting on top, wrapped in leather. They are like the ones that I had seen yesterday. I pick one up, and idly feel it's balance, and toss it to Gia. She catches it, skillfully, delighted...she had been seeking a good quality weapon. I place another into my parfleche, I will fashion a wrist sheathe for it later, and use it when I disguise myself as a FW Merchant. I look over at Lia, and ask, describe the Warrior who went to the ship, and then returned." She begins to give a detailed description, including His weapons, and the style of His sword, and I nod, realizing that she is describing Krane. My eyes brighten a bit as I think about what has happened. The Mercenaries were very proud, and very skilled. Many had tried to join them, and had been rejected, or laughingly killed. For Krane to have been allowed to join them, and apparently to have some authority, showed His skills. I was also cognicent that he had appeared with a strong force, and that Lia said that several didn't carry any of the cargo, leaving their hands free to fight. I grin, it looks like the Mercenaries are going to tighten up with his arrival. I had seen them slacking off, after Drax left, and had worried that lone mercenaries might attract some of our hotheads, who would love to capture a warrior. In our Society, capturing an armed male, in fair combat, one on one, was a requirement to earn the title of 'Huntress'.

: ...A thought crosses my mind, and I glance over at Fang. "Have you swept the beaches to the North? Any signs of a beaching?" It was a tactic that many Slavers had tried. Attract the Panthers to the Exchange, after unloading a force a couple pasangs away, and hope to flank them as they leave, burdened by the offerings. Fang snorts, she was not the Head Scout for nothing. "We patrolled north 6 pasangs, and checked all of the game trails for 2 pasangs inland, Medi. There was no sign of a landing of a force, and no signs of movements inland."

: ...Lia look over at me, her large blue eyes a bit confused. "Medi, did we earn these items? Do we need to bring something here to trade for them?" My eyes get a little sad, as I think of my two sisters that lay in graves, and also of the Warrior who rests between them. We had buried him with his weapons in his arms, and I had taken his ring as a reminder of the way he had met death. He had not groveled, he had not pleaded, he had roared with laughter, and spit as us as he had passed on. His last words, as I had sat by him, panting, trying to staunch the deep would in my right hip had been, "You will look good in my collar, red wench".

: ..."We have already paid for these, Lia, more than paid for them. Delegate some scouts and girls to bring these back to the Lair." I nod at her, showing my approval, and then head back to the Lair. I will need to bathe before slipping into my furs. The three moons are high, and my bronze colored skin and high cheekbones are fully displayed as I make my way down the trail.
