I sat by the fire cross legged making plans in my head about what I would be doing the next few days and when. I was very sick of just sitting still and not doing anything. I had much to work on and much to improved over the course of the next few days I had high hopes of doing just that .
I stood my full height and looked around. I was way to active to just sit doing nothing. I would lose my mind if I kept it up. Searching the pile of fire wood I found a stick about the thickness of my thumb and five feet long give or take and picked it up in my right hand. Hearings Mom’s voice I ducked automatically even though I was sure I was safe where I was. Hey when your own mother says look out you look out. I looked over just in time to see her feet hit the ground…Tal Mom, you just out hanging around? My eyes looked over the stick for any cracks as we talked
Sitting at the fire crossed leg I lay the stick across my lap inspecting it with great care inch by slow inch. The tips of my fingers glide down the smooth bark as I try to find any place that may brake under pressure. I also wanted to make sure the stick was flexible and take a great load before I started on my fishing rod.

Drawing my horn bone dagger out of the sheath that rested at the ready on my right hip I begin the processes of developing the tip with great care. This could either be of great use or it could harm the wood to the point the wood would be useless save to burn in the fire. I guided the blade with great care only taking a fraction of an inch off the tip of the wood at a time about six inches from the tip downward I applied just a hair harder then the top to make a true point at one end of the five foot stick.
The tip or point of the rod the most painstaking of all the building of the fishing rod would take awhile to complete I hummed softly as the shavings tiny bits of wood fell at my feet. I would gather them later they make the best fire starters and a dry pouch of them could save a life or two some time in cold driving rain.

Taking the point down to a quarter of an inch I did not wish to go lower then that or the thing may brake on contact. I did take the blade of my dagger and measure half an inch and begin to notch out three rings around the whole of the branch . The notches would be where the fibber would be wounded around the pole giving it a bit more strength and support when I fish or fought with it.
I took the binding fibber that was looped near my waist and begin to slowly work it into the notches. Then even slower to keep it tight I held it with my right foot as it lay draped on the ground my left hand slowly turning the pole as my right hand guided the fibbers.
That compete and ready to go I found a small rock that helped build the fire ring and picked it up. I knotted the fibber about an inch or two from the end into a loop and tightly tied off the rock so it would act as a weight for the line to go to the bottom of the stream.

With that done my eyes wondered up to the moons. By their positions it was growing very late. I would create the hook in the morning and try the pole out . All I needed was some worms for bait.
