not just because of his MK run: his novels are
wildly entertaining as well. Moench will always
be my favorite MK writer. He uses music and
writes almost rhythmic stories sometimes, such as
Hit It! (seriously, it must be read.) Also
another thing Doug has going for him is how
experimental the issues were. Some times he would
do multi-issue arcs, sometimes a single issue
would contain 3 shorter stories, pin ups, text
intros, the whole nine yards. It seems now that
you are lucky to get a single story done in 6
issues, never-less getting several stories in a
single issue. I really wish they would let up on
this decompression thing and give us more story
per page instead of an entire page where a door
opens.

: Doug Moench is the best Moon Knight writer.
: Not only did he create the character, but he
: solidified all of the different
: characteristics of Moon Knight that makes
: him unique. His stories were spot on and had
: that perfect balance. Huston's "The
: Bottom" arc is next, but unfortunately
: it fell short at the end. I also liked
: Issues #13 and 20 of the last run, the first
: written by Huston and the later written by
: Huston/Benson. While I have liked something
: of every writer, those are my stand outs.

: Charlie Huston bought MK back to the Marvel
: Universe. His dark crime novel style was
: perfect for MK. Carving off Bushmans face
: and cutting crescent moons into his victims
: heads is what cought everyones eye and put
: MK back on the map. He was always crazy but
: Huston turned him into a psychopath.

: Of those choices, I think I might actually
: say
: Benson. I thought the God and Country arc
: was incredible and so was The Deth of Marc
: Spector. Back to back arcs that I loved.
: Houston was great too, though.

: Doug Moench?
:
: The guy who created him?
:
: It's always easier to build upon the work of
: others, but without Moench, there would be
: no Moon Knight.
