I implemented a summer reading program for the high school in which I teach and Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God was one of the novels chosen for the eleventh grade students. I was wondering if anyone has taught this novel to high school students and, if so, can you give me any interesting ideas on how to make this novel come to life during the first couple of weeks of school? Thanks!
