it's all good. read a bit of fiction (their eyes, seraph, moses) and a bit of anthropology (mules and men, library of america volumes).
the book goes much more into the psyche of janie, a self-contained person -- though she remains a work-in-progress up to the end.
one of the biographies (by Body or Hemenway) is worth checking out, too.
