I am a 34 year old, African American woman, and it saddens me deeply to say that I'd never heard of Zora Neale Hurston until today. What's worse, is the fact, that I found out about her purely by accident. I was reading a website somewhere about Hoodoo and her name kept popping up, so decided to dig a little deeper to find out who she was. Now I'm just in total awe.
