One of the great issues in the short story and in modern life is the place and role of women and men in whatever culture the story happens to be dealing with. Delia herself is numerous women in Sweat. How does the short story confront issues such as identity, tradition, vulnerability, work, womanhood and manhood in the context of gender? .
