I applaud you in your efforts to confront the challenges attached to the dreams of exploration. Unlike you, I did graduate from high school, but I saw no further education until I began a journey of my own in my late 30's. Several years later, I am two semesters from a BS in psychology. I've found that non-traditional students feel an appreciation towards knowledge unlike many of the typical college-aged population, and for that, I find solace in having to have waited most of my life to feel this level of satisfaction.
On the note of Ms. Zora, I too, have come to love her work and respect her strength not only as a woman, but as a human being. While she was certainly an advocate for our gender, so was she as much for the human race. Each time I read of someone else discovering her or share her with another I know will appreciate the art she created and the woman she was, I feel we may be one step closer to bridging those things that continue to divide us as a people.
Best wishes for your continued pursuit. Never give up, never settle, and always be good to yourself first--Zora wouldn't want it any other way.
